While driving on the highway, the brake light on the dash came on. I drove 20 miles to my house and had soft brakes upon arrival. The brake fluid reservoir was empty and brake fluid was leaking from under the drivers position beneath the cab. The leak was coming from a bundle of brake lines next to the frame. *tr

Was driving home when i had a another person pulled out in front of me, i hit the brakes and went straight to the floor. After further investigating, replaced the power air booster which took care of the original problem. But after starting the truck to check to make sure the brakes were working properly, the truck blew a brake line (sitting in park) that was rusted severely. Either way, i was lucky that i was not…

We have had several rust problems with this vehicle from brakes lines rusting through, gas tank straps rusting through. Now we have fuel line leak and our torsion bar has cracked due to rusting through and they will not repair unless the frame is replaced which is not cost effective due to the amount of rust throughout the vehicle. Unless frame is replaced it is unsafe to drive. *tr

While braking hard for an animal in the roadway, the brake system failed. The brake pedal, when applied suddenly and hard, went to the floor. The brakes were ineffective at stopping the vehicle. The animal was struck. An inspection revealed that the front to rear brake line had rusted and burst. Further inspection revealed very rusty brake lines which appear ready to fail in many locations. *js

I have a 1999 silverado 1500 i had the brake lines replaced in july 2014 because of corrosion. Then yesterday november 4th 2014 i had the truck to a shop getting tires put on and when they started to lift it the rear end started to sag. They let it down and noticed rust holes in the frame. This truck is not safe to drive and gm needs to post a recall on these problems! *tr

I was turning a corner a short way from my house. My brake pedal suddenly went to the floor. I tried pumping the brakes and got almost no stopping power. Luckily, i was able to coast up into my yard. I looked under the truck and their was brake fluid all over the frame rail and the bundle of lines. One or more had rusted through. If i was in traffic, this would have been a very serious situation! *tr

I coasted down the hill and entered a "park & ride" lot to evaluate what happened. Had to steer off the road to avoid a rear-end collision. This is second time with brake line failure in a couple of years. I am reporting yet another case of failure for the abs module as well as the proportioning valve on my 99 silverado. There is an extremely high number of incidents reported throughout various forums on the internet, and the 3 mechanics i've spoken to are all very aware of this common issue with 99-02 nbs trucks. To my knowledge, there is no recall for this part, which is known to fail just as the original 60k…

Monday july 7th, 2014, i was driving 55 mph, traveling west on hwy 290 w., austin, tx just passed circle dr. (intersection has been called death trap).
