Rear brake line rusted out. Thank god i was going slow and there was not much traffic. When fixing the brake line i notice the rear dust shields were completely gone and the frame had alot of rust. Fast forward 8-20-12 when working on the front brake lines because they rusted out too. I had the truck up on jack stands. Came home to find the front end on the ground. The frame broke completely into, at the cross…

I filed a complaint with you in approximately 2008/09. At 20 mph there are almost no brakes (not abs brakes, no brakes). I pulled the fuse for the anti-lock system and the problem ended. I heard nothing back from you. Friends who drove my truck complained of excessively soft brakes since it was new. I was checking your website 3 days ago when i came across recall #gm05068, nhtsa 05v379000. I called my local dealer…

I was leaving a bank parking lot and went to stop before turning onto the highway. When i applied the brakes, the pedal went to the floor. Luckily, i was on a slight incline and was able to stop the vehicle. There was a puddle of brake fluid under the front of the truck, which was coming from a corroded line between the master cylinder and abs module. I had the truck towed to my local shop and they replaced two…

Each of the 3 brakes lines under the master cylinder has failed on separate occasions, fortunately all noticed when backing out of a parking spot. On all 3 occasions, the vehicle experienced a near total brake failure. All the line had rusted through and required replaced at my expense. The dual brake master cylinder does not provide acceptable emergency braking with a ruptured line. I am reporting my incidents…

When braking at low speeds the abs would come on and the vehicle would not stop on solid dry pavement. Upon my investigation what i found was the front hub bearing seal rusted out. This caused road salts/water to enter the hub assy.. This then created a rust that gathered on the magnetic abs speed sensor . The gm campaign under nhtsa campaign number: 05v379000 says this is due to an exterior rust issue. This is not…

I own a 2000 chevy silverado ext. Cab. I'm retired and drive the truck about 1000 miles a year or so. In january 2004 to pass the new york state inspection i needed to have the entire rear axle brake assembly from the axle bearing's out replaced. At the time i had between 6000 and 7000 miles on the truck. The cost was almost $800.00 now on may 4 2012 with 23,400 miles on the truck, i needed to have the front brake…

Tl* the contact owns a chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, he depressed the brake pedal and heard the squeak. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they stated that the right brake pad was worn quicker than usual and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred five times after. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was…

'the pads rusted to the rotors, destroying the rotors. I had to have all the rotors and pads replaced. Since then have had to replace the pads and rotors two more times. I've also had to replace the rear calipers and the backing plates at less than 100,000 miles. I've had to replace the abs sensors and grease boot s on the front axels. Replaced the universal joint, the four wheel drive switches twice, the power…

This truck has had issues since i first purchased it. Brakes would not stop the truck in a safe distance which ended up with me having an accident with it. The brake line rusted out after less than 100,000 miles and needed to replace them all. Now with 173,000 miles the gas lines are leaking and the frame is rusted so bad that it cannot be put up on a lift to fix the brake lines.
