My son was driving my 1999 chevrolet silverado at 55 -60 mph and the gas tank straps failed (rusted completely through) and the gas tank fell out onto the highway. My fuel gauge is not accurate. When the vehicle is full the gauge reads empty and when it is the vehicle is empty the fuel gauge reads full and so on. The gauge is very sporadic pointing to whatever level of fuel it wants to, never displaying the true amount of fuel in the fuel tank. I have to depend on my odometer to read the fuel tank amount somewhat accurately; at least much more accurate than the fuel gauge…
