When applying brake with motor at idle or close to it. The brake pedal will get hard. I checked vacuum from the separate vacuum pump and only had 9 in hg. It will build and store some vacuum but will also fade as it idles. I replaced the pump and i now have 26 in hg and when parking or doing short maneuvers all is good. I have replaced the pump at a price of $135 and did the work myself.

I've noticed multiple times when backing up at slow speeds such as backing into a parking space that the brakes are very weak. I've had to apply very hard pressure to the brake peddle to stop and very nearly hit a light pole once. It seems to happen more often in humid or rainy weather. I've had the brakes checked, pads and rotors checked out fine. I also spoke with another silverado owner who noticed the same issue.
